Q: How long does it take to heat up the oven?
A: Approximately 1.5 hours

Q: Can the flu/Chimney be positioned anywhere?
A: Yes provided it’s taken up at the front and re directed where necessary with 90 and 40 degree bends

Q: What type of wood do you use?
A: Any kind of hard wood that is dry (eg: Jarrah, Mallayroot etc.). Avoid white woods (they smoke too much). Charcoal or heat beads can be used. Never use coal (it sticks to the oven).

Q: What can you cook in the oven?
A: Anything that you can cook in a conventional oven. Especially fish and all kinds of breads. Naan breads, flat breads etc.

Q: How hot does it get on the outside of the oven?
A: You can hold your hand on the outside of the oven for as long as you like (fully insulated) there is hardly any heat at all on the outside of the oven.

Q: How many pizzas can you cook in the WOODY?
A: You can cook up to four standard sized pizza's.

Q: Can the WOODY be converted to gas?
A: Yes, provided it is done by a licensed gas fitter.

Q: How long does it take to cook a pizza?
A: 2 minutes.

Q: Does the oven give off much smoke?
A: It does in the first 30 minutes of lighting the oven. But after that there is little to no smoke coming out of the oven.

Q: Where is the fire positioned in the oven?
A: The fire is generally positioned at the back of the oven.

Q: How do you light the fire in the oven?
A: You make a mini fire on your pizza paddle with a fire lighter, then push the mini fire to the back of your wood fired oven and then build more wood onto that.

Q: How hot does the oven get?
A: The oven can get as hot as 400 degrees.

Q: Are there any fire restrictions when using your oven?
A: It comes under the category of backyard entertainment (eg: BBQ’s). There is no fire restrictions for using the ovens.

Q: What is the difference between a clay oven and a cement oven?
A: The clay oven bricks retain the heat more than cement ovens and the clay bricks do not crack as they can expand with heat, where as the cement bricks will crack over time.

Q: Can the ovens be situated outside NOT undercover?
A: Yes they can. Our ovens are designed to withstand any temperature outdoors.

Q: What is included in the DIY Pizza Oven kits?
A: All the components necessary to build the entire oven (including door and paddle)

The base can be purchased separately with or without wheels if you wish.

Q: When would you use the door in the ovens?
A: Generally when you cook big dishes that take a longer period of time to cook (e.g. roasts, fish etc.)

Q: How heavy are the ovens?
A: Approximately 500kg
